It’s Weed Wednesday! 🌬️🍃✨
I’ve decided to start this series, where every Wednesday I talk about the wonderful plant that is cannabis. I hope it will provide you with a new perspective on the plant and all its absolutely MAGICAL qualities!
I’ll first talk about my own personal experience with the plant. The year is 2018, during the spring semester of my first year of college. I somehow was the only one in my friend group who had waited until college to try the plant, but I’m glad I did. When I indulged in weed for the first time, I understood why people gravitated to the plant so much! And I knew then why people described it as getting “high” 😂
What I didn’t know then that I know now, is that there was so much more to the plant than meets the eye. The people around me were using it for escapism; to unwind after a hard day’s work, to “calm” themselves after a fight, or to simply forget about all of their problems. What I didn’t know, is that they were actually numbing themselves. Because there was no one around me who set an example of healthy cannabis use, I also fell into the trap of escapism.
In 2022, I was smoking pretty much every day for a few months. Yeah… It wasn’t healthy. I was going through a period where I didn’t know what the hell I was going to do with my life, and just wanted to get away from my own problems as well. What I didn't know was that cannabis actually amplifies your current state, much like other entheogens (which are plants that produce a non-ordinary state of consciousness), so using cannabis to numb our emotions is actually very counterintuitive. Since I was a mess, the altered state I experienced with cannabis was also muddled. I ended up taking an involuntary tolerance break since I moved back in with my parents (and they weren’t big fans of the plant). During that time, I was introduced to the extensive cannabis scene in NYC, where weed had just been legalized for recreational use the year before.
Even though I was a fan of the plant, I had some of the same preconceived notions that others had; you can’t function when high, you should only indulge when you have nothing to do, you’ll be locked to a couch, stoners are lazy, etc. But living in NYC actually revitalized my love for the plant. There were events of ALLLL kinds, such as High Yoga (my favorite of all time!), vendor pop-ups, a museum dedicated solely to cannabis, and even an award show celebrating growers from all over New York State (shoutout to The New York Growers Cup for being the first event to expose me to this wonderful new world).
All of this to say, there were now endless possibilities presented to me in which cannabis could be enjoyed with PURPOSE, with intention. And I just had to see which one resonated with me the most! What y'all will soon come to find out about me is that I’m a highly spiritual being. So being able to experiment with my intuition and cannabis broadened my perception of not only my inner world, but the world around me as well. In many ways, it was another spiritual awakening.
I began diving into research on cannabis, not only in a general sense but also experimenting with my own body and mind. I bought books that connected cannabis and spirituality, and that’s when I learned that cannabis is actually held in high spiritual regard. I also learned that there is a spirit within the plant. (Or maybe, that spirit embodied itself as a plant… let’s ponder that together).
Sounds crazy, I know! (What you’ll also come to find out is that I love talking about out-there, taboo topics, and that I truly do not care what others think about it). But, I accepted this truth more and more, and even began to acknowledge the cannabis spirit before indulging. Ma (which is what the ancient Chinese referred to as the whole hemp plant) brought me an incredible amount of enlightenment. There was an immense increase of downloads, intuitive hits, and even luck and good fortune entering my life, all because I said these words before my sessions: “Thank you, Ma.”
Three simple words helped to catapult me into even more growth, more enlightenment. A lot of people mindlessly indulge in cannabis, and honestly, don’t even know the full extent of its wonderful medicinal and spiritual qualities. But when Ma is acknowledged and thanked for her power and wisdom, she begins to open up worlds for you. She begins conspiring (in a good way!) with your Higher Self for your greatest good.
While I know what she’s done for me (and can write so many more paragraphs going into detail), I invite you now to view cannabis in a new light. While the other stuff I wrote might’ve sounded very “woo-woo,” I at least want you to try and acknowledge the cannabis spirit in your own unique way before indulging in her many forms. When she feels loved, cherished and appreciated, she exposes new worlds for you to journey into, with her support by your side.
Immense gratitude to you if you made it this far! If you’d like to speak more about any ideas I presented in this article, don’t hesitate to reach out! Part of my purpose in this lifetime is also educating the masses about intentional and mindful uses of the cannabis plant, which I do on my socials and even in my podcast!
